Caoimhe started studying Acupuncture in 1995 after completing her  Science degree from NUI Maynooth Ireland. She graduated from the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland in 1998 and spent over 3 months studying in hospitals and the University of TCM, Nanjing China to complete my licentiate.

She has a busy clinic in Dundrum Dublin.  Through working with her patients she has seen the impressive results that acupuncture and Chinese medicine can have.

Caoimhe's speical interests lie in Womens Health and Paediatrics. Her initial interest in Gynaecology began in 1989 when she did a work placement the the Coombe Maternity Hospital Dublin and so when she embarked on my Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career it came as no surprise that she was drawn to women’s and children’s health.

She is an experienced fertility, gynecology and obstetric Acupuncturist and Herbalist specialising in complex  disorders such as unexplained infertility, recurrent miscarriage,  Endometriosis and other inflammatory conditions. She have done extensive Post Graduate Training in this area since 2003 and studied with many of the pioneering TCM practitioners in this area. Having spent a decade travelling to China she also had the privilege to work in Gynecology departments and reproductive Units in Nanjing.

She treat all stages of women’s wellness, from enhancing fertility, assisting IVF/ ICSI cycles, to pregnancy care, post natal care and now ever increasing women and friends entering menopause. Through her own fertility issues she had in conceiving her second child she has gained an in depth knowledge of fertility issues and IVF clinics. She feels this has benefited her as a practitioner helping those undergoing fertility issues.

She also helped set up the Zita West Affiliated Network group in Ireland in 2009 and in 2014 saw the need to set up the Acupuncture and Fertility Network Group which consists of the best acupuncturists in Ireland practicing in this area. She has built relationships with doctors and embryologists in clinics in both Ireland and abroad and have a wealth of advice to support couples wishing to create their families.

Since becoming a mother herself over 13 years ago she was naturally curious to see first-hand how Chinese Medicine could help her own daughter, many couples that had attended the clinic had been successful in becoming parents and started asking about Chinese medicine helping their babies too – So she trained as a Paediatric acupuncturist too and has a Children’s clinic Acuhealkids on specific days at the clinic

Over the last 20 years she has continued to study  extensively and has completed Courses/ Diplomas in Chinese Patent Herbal Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage).

In 2012 together with her colleague Gillian Searson they  were the first Irish acupuncturists to complete a year long post graduate diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture under renowned paediatric teacher Julian Scott. She has developed a gentle needle technique for babies and children.

As part of her continuing professional development She has been to China over 10 times and return regularly to complete further study in both Acupuncture and  Chinese herbal medicine. She has studied under many consultants in China especially in the gynaecology and paediatric area. She specifically spent time in the reproductive centre in the Biggest TCM hospital in Nanjing China. She has undertaken reproductive training with experts Jane Lyttleton, Jani White, Trevor Wing to name but a few. She has completed her obstetric training under guidance from Sarah Budd and Debra Betts. She has studied under Julian Scott, Elisa Rossi and Alex Tiberi in Children Pediatric Medicine. She is a registered member of AFPA and IRCHM which have strict codes of ethics and practice.

She was privileged to teach  Acupuncture for over 10 years in acupuncture point location modules, herbal modules and assisted student clinics at the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland. Whilst a faculty member for AFI she traveled to Nanjing University China to monitor and supervise graduates from the AFI programme from 1998 - 2008. She is a founding member of the Zita West network and have taught on this training programme.

She is  passionate about Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and have a particular interest in increasing recognition for the practice of Acupuncture and Herbalism through regulation from the government both in Ireland and Europe. She have been an active member of her  professional bodies and have sat on board level for over 15 years. She is the former Chairperson and secretary of her  acupuncture register AFPA. She worked for the ETCMA European Chinese Medicine organisation for 10 years.
